A Lucrative Guide to Earning Cash on the Side

Earning money is pretty cool, there’s no doubt about that. It’s probably safe to assume that you’re interested in making more money, especially if you’re visiting a blog with the word “dollars” in the title! The chances are high that you already have a job, and you may even be earning a nice amount from that job. But if you’ve found yourself earning essentially the same amount year in and year out, it can make you feel a little stuck. What if you want to earn more money?

Well, the obvious advice here would be to try to get a promotion. Easier said than done, of course, but if you set your mind to it then it may be more achievable than you think. Most people think it’s impossible because they’re not actually trying to get a promotion – they’re sort of hoping one will fall into their lap! Of course, there’s also the option of changing jobs to get yourself something more lucrative. And if you’re at the point where you’re strapped for cash, then perhaps you need to take more steps to actually save your money instead of actively seeking to earn more! Better money management may be a better step than seeking more revenue.

But maybe this isn’t quite enough. Perhaps you want to save up more cash in order to afford something you have your eye on. Maybe you’ve got a lot of time on your hands that you want to fill with something that can boost your revenue. In that case, looking for a part-time job – what you may call a “side hustle” – could be your best bet. It will help expand your skillset and improve your resumé, upping your earning potential in the future. So it’s good in the long-term as well as the short-term!

Here are some ideas you may not have considered when it comes to earning some extra cash. Remember not to burn yourself out with too much work, though!

Blogging

What was once a strange and newfangled job opportunity is now seen by many to be the quintessential side hustle of the information age. Of course, there was also a time in the recent past where many assumed that blogging was a get-rich-quick scheme, as many have found, to their chagrin, to be false. In fact, many now assume that making money from blogging is impossible. This isn’t so; you just have to be smart in your approach. Even if you don’t make money off the blog itself, you may end up getting some assignments from other outlets. Get writing and see where your words can take you!

Acting

A lot of people make the mistake of assuming that all actors who do acting “as a real job” make a lot of money from the pursuit. But the vast majority of actors actually do their acting part-time, treating it as a side hustle with which they’re comfortable. If you’re at all interested, then perhaps you should look into getting an acting coach online to improve your abilities. See if you can get some parts in local theatre or television productions. It can actually be a great side-earner!

Tutoring

Do you have a valuable skill? If so, then there are probably people out there who are more than willing to pay you to teach them that skills. Maybe you’re really good at the English language. Perhaps you’re proficient in another language. Maybe you’re a guitar master, or you know a few programming languages, or you’ve got a head for the sort of math problems that makes other people’s heads spin. One could argue that you should use such skills to pursue a more lucrative full-time career, but this isn’t always feasible, nor does it preclude using those skills to earn even more cash on the side. You can create an online course, or you can do things the traditional way with face-to-face learning.

Data entry

Many people assume that data entry is an extremely time-intensive job. People imagine someone sat at their computer for hours on end, typing values in to a database, with the workload never seeming to drop. In fact, because the workload is spread out across several freelancers, data entry usually only requires two or three hours a day, if that. A lot of businesses are looking for people who can work remotely, doing some database handling for a few hours a week. This is a great way to earn extra cash; it may seem brainless, but that just means you can listen to music or educational podcasts to make the time fly by!
